Today’s Full moon in Gemini is about self-assertion, sexuality, boundaries, communication, ego-checks, collaboration, and creation. Addressing what has and hasn't been working will be unavoidable. We'll be reclaiming our power, even if it is after intense circumstances showing us where we've lost it or given it away.
Mutable Signs (Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, and Pisces) will be affected the most.
what is a full moon?
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun is opposite the Moon and the Moon is Fully illuminated. The Sun is in the opposite or sister zodiac sign of the Moon. Sister signs are six signs or 180 degrees away from each other. They’re of the same modality, share initiative or behavioral style, and have a similar view, but are different elements so they will express their views or execute plans differently. In other words, their expression is similar, while the driver to their action is different. One sign lacks where the other thrives, so friction between how to achieve a certain goal is created.
In this case, the Sun is in Sagittarius (a fire sign) and the Moon is in Gemini (an air sign), both mutable signs. Both signs are adaptable, but where Sagittarius sees the bigger picture and philophisizes life as a whole, Gemini is curious about the details of here and now. Sagittarius and Gemini share a love of learning, communicating, and experiencing life. However, Sagittarius are more about broad concepts, dislike feeling tied down, taking action, and value the freedom to experience life to the fullest. Gemini are extremely verbal, enjoy one-on-one conversations and connections, and more likely to overthink or dive into the details.
The opposition of the Sun and Moon (opposing forces, such as work vs home, what you need vs what you want) create inner tension and external pressure. Your home, family, and relationships will be brought into the spotlight for the following two weeks, which can lead to conflict and crises that are energy draining.
This affects intimate relationships, but gives us emotional strength and intuition (which is at it’s peak during a Full Moon) to help overcome relationship challenges.
Full Moon’s bring your subconsciousness into consciousness and allows you to see what relationship dynamics or negative feelings are causing disharmony and/or need to be released.
Full Moon’s are about culminations, endings, release, forgiveness, and with every ending comes a new beginning.
what is a cold moon
This one is pretty self explanatory. The Full Moon will be taking place a few weeks before Yule (or Christmas). We refer to Decembers Full Moon as the Cold Moon, because in most areas it's becoming cold enough to snow. Also, because of how early it becomes dark outside, which makes it colder even more quickly in the day.
what to expect?
Sagittarius is symbolized by the archer, representing directness, high aims, a love of outdoor activity, and travel. This is a sign of philosophy, open-mindedness, exploration, and freedom. Sagittarius Season follows Scorpio Season where we put to rest our old self. This Season is giving Phoenix energy, where we rise from the ashes confidently and find the silver lining in the dark clouds and really go for our dreams. Their motto is "I aim".
Gemini, symbolized by the twins, is the only zodiac sign symbolized by a human or two humans. They represent the power of the mind, duality of human nature, life, and all the little contradictions. This sign is flirtatious, logical, versatile, and often misunderstood. Their motto is "I think".
Ruled by Mercury and associated with Hermes, the Messenger of the Gods, Gemini's are quick-witted, energetic, and proccess and relay information fast. They are ruled by logic over emotions, love learning, happiest when collaborating and creating, but need their alone time. Geminis are both introverted and extroverted, serious and funny, the life of the party and the ones who may pass on a party to stay home and read. They are kind of walking contradictions. (I myself am a Gemini, so no shade lol.)
With the Sun in Sagittarius and the Moon in Gemini, we get an annual opportunity to readjust the way we communicate and interact to become more aligned with our long-term vision for the future. It may show us the outdated language and interaction patterns we need to release by backfiring on us in order to help us realize the importance of making changes.
The Full Moon is also conjunct Mars, giving you the courage to act on your most passionate desires. As you do so, your sex appeal and charisma will drive people crazy.
There will be a hot, competitive energy. You'll either use this energy to enjoy physical activities or let it overwhelm you and become irritable and aggressive. So be careful where and how you use your energy.
Mars stationed Retrograde in Gemini October 30th, 2022 and won't station direct until January 12th, 2023. During this time, you'll experience tense and frustrating emotions, even confusion between boundaries and percieved intentions of others.
For about an hour Mars will completely be hidden behind the Full Moon. After, some hidden wisdom about ourself and others will be revealed. Fated events will occur to show you what needs to be released, what needs to be reinforced, and where your boundaries are being crossed or where you're crossing others boundaries.
This Full Moon's energy will be felt for two weeks up to the New Moon on December 23rd. These two weeks are good for releasing and letting go, resting, healing, regenerating, contemplating, meditating, decluttering, harvesting, pruning, and cutting hair.
